SLEEP APNEA & SNORING

Do you or your partner have a snoring problem? If you do, it’s important to know that snoring is more than just a noisy habit; it can be a sign of more serious health conditions, such as sleep apnea, which could require intervention. When snoring occurs, the soft palate of the mouth has relaxed to the point of obstructing your airway. Sleep apnea occurs when this obstruction keeps you from breathing for an extended period of time. This is a dangerous condition that must be treated.

As an active member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr. Yee has extensive experience with dental solutions for those who are suffering from sleep apnea. One possible solution is a snore appliance. Dr. Yee will custom fit an appliance to reposition the structures of your mouth while you sleep, comfortably keeping your airway open. This simple device can prevent snoring and sleep apnea.

For more serious cases, it may be necessary for you to use a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine, or CPAP. Talk to Dr. Yee if you or a loved one snores or is suffering from sleep apnea. Whether the solution is a snore appliance or a referral to another specialist, Dr. Yee can give you the best treatment advice.
